Getting started

  • How do I create an account?
Register at Sign up with your email address and a password. We’ll email you a one-time code to verify the address. Complete identity verification before you can send or receive funds.
  • What identity verification is required?
A four-step check: personal details, residential address, a government-issued photo ID, and a short review step. Most submissions are reviewed within one business day. Start it from your account under Verification.
  • Which countries are supported?
The current list of supported and restricted jurisdictions is on the Countries page. Availability depends on our licensed payment partners and applicable sanctions.
  • What transaction types does EscrowSign support?
Domain escrow, business-asset transfers, physical goods, professional services, and OTC crypto/fiat trades through a verified desk. See the Transactions overview for what each category covers.

Transactions

  • How do I start a new transaction?
Sign in, open Transactions → New, pick a category, and enter the terms (description, amount, timelines, who pays which fees). You can invite the other party by email in the same flow.
  • How do I invite a counterparty?
During setup, enter the counterparty’s email address. They receive a secure invitation link; if they don’t already have an account they’ll be prompted to create one and verify their identity before they can accept the terms.
  • What happens after both parties agree to the terms?
The transaction moves to the Funding stage. Once funds are held in escrow the seller delivers the asset, the buyer’s inspection period starts, and funds are released after acceptance (or automatically at the end of the inspection window if no dispute is raised).
  • Can I modify the terms after a transaction starts?
Not once both parties have signed the agreement. If the terms need to change, one party can cancel and a new transaction can be created. A cancellation fee may apply once funding has been received — see the Refund Policy on the Pricing page.
  • How do inspection periods work?
After delivery, the buyer has a defined window (agreed during setup) to inspect the asset and either accept or reject it. Acceptance releases funds to the seller. Rejection opens a dispute or return workflow depending on the category.

Payments & funds

  • How do I fund a transaction?
Open the transaction and go to the Funding tab. It shows the escrow wallet or bank account assigned by the desk. Always use the details displayed inside your authenticated dashboard — never instructions received by email or chat.
  • What payment methods are accepted?
Fiat by bank transfer through licensed payment partners, and major cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC and others depending on the desk). Available methods depend on your jurisdiction and the transaction category.
  • When are funds released to the seller?
Either when the buyer accepts the delivered asset inside the workspace, or automatically at the end of the inspection period if no dispute is raised. Release happens through the licensed payment partner.
  • What fees does EscrowSign charge?
Our standard platform commission is 1.36% of the transaction value, covering transaction coordination, workflow management, and document storage. In exceptional cases an adjusted rate may apply — where it does, EscrowSign notifies both parties in writing before the terms are activated. Provider, processing, and (where applicable) conversion, inspection, and professional fees are shown separately. See the Pricing page for the full breakdown.
  • How long do refunds take?
Bank refunds usually settle within a few business days once the payment partner processes them. Crypto refunds complete once the required network confirmations have cleared. Timing beyond our control (banking hours, blockchain congestion, intermediary banks) can add delay.

Disputes

  • How do I raise a dispute?
Open the transaction and go to the Dispute tab. Describe the issue, upload supporting evidence, and submit. The other party is notified and can respond inside the same tab.
  • What evidence should I submit?
Anything that supports your position: photographs, delivery confirmations, tracking numbers, screenshots of communications, invoices, receipts, expert or inspection reports. More evidence up front usually shortens the resolution time.
  • How long does a dispute take to resolve?
Straightforward disputes typically resolve within a few business days. Complex disputes involving physical inspection, third-party professionals, or cross-border verification may take longer. You’ll receive status updates inside the workspace.
  • What decisions can EscrowSign make in a dispute?
Release funds, refund funds, apply a partial split, refer for independent inspection, or refer to an external mediator or professional where the terms provide for it. Decisions are made against the agreed terms and the evidence submitted.

Account & security

  • How do I enable two-factor authentication?
Sign in and go to Settings → Security. Enable 2FA and follow the setup prompts to link an authenticator app. Keep your recovery codes somewhere safe.
  • How do I change my password?
Sign in and open Settings → Password. If you can’t sign in, use Forgot password to receive a reset link by email.
  • What should I do if I suspect unauthorised access?
Change your password immediately, review and end any active sessions under Settings → Security, and contact support through the contact form. Do not act on any instructions received outside the authenticated dashboard.
  • How do I close my account?
Send a closure request through our contact form. Accounts with active transactions, open disputes, or pending withdrawals can only be closed once those complete. We retain records to meet our regulatory obligations even after closure.

OTC trading

  • What is OTC escrow and how does it work?
Over-the-counter escrow lets you buy or sell crypto and fiat directly with a verified desk, with EscrowSign holding funds until both sides deliver. Terms, price, and settlement route are agreed with the desk before funding.
  • How do I contact a verified OTC trader?
Sign in and open the OTC desks directory. Start a chat from the desk’s profile — all messages go through the platform, and desks appear under the neutral identity “OTC Desk” in the chat thread.
  • What coins and fiat currencies are supported?
Major cryptocurrencies (typically BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC) and common fiat currencies. Exact pairs, minimum sizes, and settlement rails depend on the desk you’re trading with — the desk will confirm what it supports at the start of the conversation.
  • Are OTC traders verified by EscrowSign?
Yes. Every desk passes identity, compliance, and operational checks before being listed, and desks that fail to meet ongoing conduct standards are removed. Escrow is still held by EscrowSign, not by the desk.

Security reminder: EscrowSign will never contact you asking for your password, OTP, seed phrase, or to transfer funds via email or outside your authenticated transaction workspace. If you receive such a request, do not comply and report it immediately.
